Israeli forces with demolition machinery finished knocking down the Abdullah family home in the Sheikh Anbar area of Al-Tur, on the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem, on Tuesday morning, 13 October, WAFA reported. The family had already taken part of it down themselves.
The 200-square-metre house was about 20 years old and housed 16 people. Two days earlier, another resident of the same neighbourhood, Malouk Kazim Abdullah, was forced to demolish her own home, according to local sources quoted by WAFA. WAFA did not report any Israeli statement on either demolition.
The Irish news site The Journal reported that National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir attended a demolition in Al-Tur during the same period. Demolitions in East Jerusalem are usually justified by a lack of building permits, which residents say are almost impossible to obtain.
