95%of academic buildings damagedGaza education ministry

An Israeli drone strike on the Islamic University of Gaza in Gaza City on Sunday, 25 October, killed three people, according to university staff and al-Shifa Hospital, which received the bodies and treated eight wounded. Xinhua's security sources said a drone first hit a building entrance, wounding five, then struck the same spot hours later.

Accounts of the dead differ. University sources told AFP they were administrative staff, Al Jazeera named three security guards, and Xinhua said campus buildings were sheltering displaced people. Gaza's education ministry said the wounded were students attending classes. Israel said it was targeting a Hamas operative.

The ministry said 10 students and educators had been killed in the previous six days and that 95 per cent of academic buildings have been damaged during the war. Gaza civil defence reported four more deaths elsewhere that day: two in Khan Younis, one in Deir al-Balah and one in northern Gaza.
