The women's section at Damon Prison was raided three times on 7 October, with cells searched and tear gas and stun grenades used, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society said on 18 October. Fifteen women were moved to solitary confinement after styling their hair in braids. The next day women there were pepper-sprayed in an operation involving the Yamaz police unit.
On 6 October, raids on sections of Janot, Ofer and Negev prisons left dozens of detainees hit by rubber bullets and several taken to hospital, the society said. It said such raids have become routine over the three years since the war began.
Prison authorities released footage of the 7 October raids, one of dozens of such videos circulated during the war, some posted by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The Israel Prison Service has said in past cases that its facilities operate under the law.
