Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot condemned the 17 October attack on diplomats in Taybeh in the strongest terms and said Belgium would keep pressing for EU sanctions against those responsible and those who support them. France and Poland also urged Israel to act.

On 19 October British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband condemned escalating settler violence and the attacks on French, Belgian and Polish officials, a Catholic Church representative and a US journalist. Britain announced a ban on imports from settlements in September, alongside a wider sanctions regime.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said the days when Israel would quietly accept threats, sanctions and attempts to dictate its policies were over. EU foreign ministers approved a political decision on sanctions against violent settlers earlier this year, but the legal work to impose them is still under way.
